If you have an
application that runs on Windows, and would like to have it hosted by an Internet
Service Provider, then you've come to the right place. Our high-end redundant
servers run Windows 2000 and are an ideal place for the hosting of applications.
Alternatively
if you have had Tech Solutions develop web software for you, consider having us
host it. The advantages are that you don't have the day to day headaches in maintaining
the up-time of your applications, and don't have to pay for the high cost of high-speed
access, hardware and backup systems. Let us do all the hard work for you, and
host on your behalf. NOTE:
We do NOT host Microsoft IIS/ASP based applications due to the increased security
risks of these environments on our servers. Sorry, Apache only web based applications
at this time. Java is no problem for us. 4th Dimension applications are preferred. How
does it work?Its
easy. You simply either send us an installation CD or make the installation software
accessible to us, and provide us installation instructions. We will then install
the software on our hardware for you. If you need, we can give you access to the
hardware through PCAnywhere, where you can do the installation yourself, or maintain
the application yourself. Its all secured, so you don't have to worry about hackers,
etc. We upgrade our operating systems routinely and all systems have anti-virus
software installed with automatic updates. Once
installed, your users will then have access to the application by accessing either
the IP address of our target hardware platform, or through a domain name that
is registered for you, resolving to the box that houses your application. Are
there setup fees involved?None.
However there is a
minimum hosting commitment of six (6) months. This is charged on a monthly basis
by credit card to you. Hosting charges vary based on the level of service, and
we typically have reduced rates for hosting Tech Solutions developed applications
(such as custom written software, or Eclipse Service Management Software). What
about my data? How safe is it?Because
the data is stored on our redundant hardware arrays, it is automatically mirrored
through RAID disk arrays, and then backed up nightly to redundant servers. This
means that if there are problems, we can recover easily to last nite's backup.
If, however, you are running Eclipse on our hardware, we can give you up to the
second data recovery through the inbuilt transaction logging capabilities that
come with Eclipse running on 4D Server, which is our preferred hosting platform
on Windows 2000. If
you need your data, we can provide data export capability that you can pickup
via FTP (NOTE: This is only on Tech Solutions developed software - if you are
providing us your own software to host, we suggest developing this capability
into the system prior to giving it to us to host). Who
owns the application? Who owns the data?Regardless
of application license ownership, you always own your own data. However in the
case of application licensing, we will only host an application that you can prove
ownership of the license for the application, and that our hosting of the application
doesn't violate any license agreement that you may have on the software. In the
case of Eclipse Service Management Software, our license allows you to let us
host the application on your behalf, therefore there is no problem, but you must
first be a fully licensed owner of Eclipse before we will host it for you. To
