Tech
Support Consultant
Due
to an ever expanding client base of Eclipse Service Management
Software customers, we require a part time consultant who
works from home, and can take tech support phone calls, transfered
from our main phone system, during a negotiated time frame.
Currently we have a specific need for tech support consultants
who can handle US Eastern Time Zone support (9:00AM to 6:00PM),
or parts of the day based on available schedule.
The position is a 1099 contract position and is an 'off site'
position. The successful candidate will be responsible to
field tech support calls regarding Eclipse Service Management
Software from their home office. All time spent on calls will
be paid at a negotiated rate. The candidate will be responsible
to ensure that calls made by clients are answered promptly
and courteously. They will be paid for training time with
our software and will have access to our internal knowledge
base to assist in the answering of frequent questions. If
the consultant is unable to resolve the tech support issue,
they will be able to elevate it to our main office in Phoenix,
however we would hope this would be an exception rather than
the rule.
Currently we are seeing only a small volume of support calls
coming in, and its expected that this position will require
between 5 and 20 hours per week for a consultant. There is
no guarantee of a minimum amount of work with this position.
This position bests suits someone who's work is based at home,
and wishes to expand their current duties by fielding tech
support calls for our products.
The consultant should have a good manner with people, should
enjoy helping out others, and should be competent in the following
technologies:
* Networking, TCP/IP, web servers
* Some experience with vertical market software products
* Understanding of the fundamentals of databases
* Know Windows 95 thru XP, with knowledge of Windows 2000
and NT operating systems
* Great people skills!
It would be ideal if the candidate has some experience with
4th Dimension (www.4d.com)
however this is not mandatory.
The
candidate should have broadband Internet access installed.
From time to time, clients will send compressed copies of
their database to us to fix errors, etc. and high speed access
is important.
We
will cover the installation of a seperate phone line for the
consultant, which should be answered in a defined manner.
If the consultant is scheduled to be on call, and is unable
to be in the location where the phone is installed, they may
divert the call to a cell phone, etc. however the diversion
costs will be at their expense. We would prefer if the consultant
is accessible to a computer when calls are received.
All
calls are logged into our online Eclipse system via the web,
which simplifies communications and job management.
Consultants
will be paid by wire transfer for time spent either when 20
hours of time is accrued, or every 2 weeks which ever comes
earlier. Each call can be charged to us at a minimum 15 min
time period, even if the call is only for 5 mins. Only calls
logged into our Eclipse system will be eligible for payment.
To accomodate the consultant being on call, we will pre-pay
the successful candidate with 20 hours of time in advance
that they can draw down against.
The
successful candidate will be expected to sign a non-disclosure/non-compete
agreement with us before this assignment can begin. A copy
of this agreement can be requested from us in advance.
