| If
you are looking for a tried and tested facility to allow your
4D applications to authenticate a user against a Windows primary
domain controller (or Active Directory Services registry), then
look no further. |
|
NT
Logon is a plug-in for 4D Windows that will allow your application
to check a user login ID and password against a nominated Windows
domain, returning either success or failure. Its pretty simple in
principle, however this plug-in uses the native Windows Login capability
built into the OS and therefore conforms 100% with Windows security
rules and policies on the network.
Its
fast, and tested. At one corporate client, over 1 million logins
have been processed by this little plug-in, enabling their web solutions
to be secured through the corporation's overall security model,
rather than forcing repetitive logins against multiple passwords
in different systems.
This
plug-in can run on 4D single user, or 4D Server, but requires that
the computer that is running it be able to 'Act as part of the operating
system', and therefore requires that security policy to be available
to the computer with NT Logon.
This
plug-in has been tested on Windows NT Server, and Windows 2000 Server
running Active Directory Services without issue. We suggest that
if you don't have knowledge of the Windows Networking Security Model,
then it would be good to have a MCSE nearby to ensure that your
computers are setup with the appropriate level of security. The
Plug-in comes with a small application to ensure that your computer
is set with the appropriate security capability to use the NT Logon
plug-in.
