| Do
you need to integrate your 4D applications with Microsoft Outlook?
Do your clients and users demand this? Are you struggling with
a strategy to do this easily, so you can get back to 4D programming
and not have to become a Windows VBA, VBScript or Kernal developer
to achieve this? Does it all seem just way too hard? And are
you frustrated with Microsoft Outlook Security popups making
it impossible for your application to run without user intervention?
If any of this is true, read on.... |

Outlook
manages a user's e-mail, contacts, calendar, tasks, etc. and is
an integral part of a user experience with their Windows computer
today. Windows users probably spend more time in Outlook than any
other application on their computer. After all, its where they go
to check their email, their schedule, their address books, etc.
If you can integrate with Outlook, you have access to this incredible
resource and you'll make your customers VERY HAPPY!
|
But
4D developers have had a hard time over the years with integrating
with Outlook. Past solutions have included using ActiveX/OLE,
VBA, VBScript, etc. to do this and learning this level of technology
to do a simple creation, for example, of a Calendar entry is
overkill. |
And
attempts to 'simplify' this through XML interfaces wtih Outlook
discriminates against users who don't have the most current version
of 4D, are NOT running MS Office Professional version (XML integration
with MS Office products was only introduced in MS Office 2003 Professional
version, and isn't available natively in lesser priced versions,
or older versions of MS Office) or simply just don't want to have
to dig through XML code, parsing, etc. again just to post a Calendar
event.
Then
even if you have struggled through this entire maze and gotten some
communications between 4D and Outlook going, you then encounter
the famous Microsoft Outlook Security Popup whenever your application
is trying to connect to Outlook:
Well
that's all now changed. Tech Solutions have introduced a simple
4D Plug-in that works from versions 4D 6.5 - 4D 2004, on Windows,
that expose all the commands that MS Outlook has (from version 2000
onwards) to 4D applications natively. No need to install anything
special, nor register ActiveX components, etc. Its all native and
simple to use.
 |
We've
exposed the command set that any Windows developer would have
access to, right from 4D. This means that the 4D developer
can compete with any Windows developer for functions with
Outlook without having to pay for any expensive technology
or become a Windows kernel, VBA, VBScript or ActiveX developer
to achieve it.
Outlook4D
offers access to all the main areas of Outlook including:
- Calendar
- Tasks
- Contacts
- Email
- Notes
(coming
soon...)

Full
support of multiple folders are supported, so that you can create
items in specific folders, get lists of items in nominated folders,
or get any individual item's properties, all from your 4D application.
You can even enumerate folders within folders, move items around
from folder to folder, or even create or delete folders. All from
within the Outlook4D Plug-in.
Its
so simple to do this. Here's an example of 4D code that creates
a Contact in your Outlook Contact folder labelled "My Contacts":

There's
nothing to it. Think of the application opportunities this opens
up. Not only do you get to integrate with your customer's Outlook
system, but often expensive to develop and deploy applications such
as scheduling, calendaring, etc. can now simply leverage off the
existing Outlook calendar that is installed on your user's computer.
You don't have to develop the schedule interface, and deal with
customer complaints that the schedule in your application doesn't
take into consideration their own personal calendar in Outlook.
Now just use Outlook for everything, and the problem is solved.
And don't worry about developing reminder systems in your application.
There's no real point. Not only would a user never see a reminder
unless they opened your application, but you can easily create reminder
Tasks or Calendar events in Outlook and update them accordingly
in your application as you need. Again, your reducing your development
time down and dealing with technology that your customers know and
love.
Whether
you need to make Outlook a part of your application, or build a
synchronization solution between your 4D application and Outlook,
you'll need Outlook4D to do a professional solution. And for its
LOW price, its a no-brainer that this is a plug-in that should be
a part of every 4D Windows developer's toolkit.
Outlook4D
comes with a great manual and sample application that can get you
up and running immediately. Its ready to go immediately.
'No
Hassle' License!
| 4D
developer's biggest challenges these days are competing with
other developers for work. In our opinion, its just simply wrong
to have to pay too much for what other Windows developers get
for free. So we are offering a 'no hassle'
license to Outlook4D for its developers. You purchase a simple
development license and you can deploy this plug-in as much
as you want. On as many applications or systems, whether they
be single user or 4D Server based systems, as you like. No additional
cost. Now that's a deal. |

Download
the DEMO!
| A
full trial demo of this software is available for download
by clicking the button here. This software will work completely
but after 60 minutes of use, it will bring up an annoying 'nag'
screen which you have to dismiss for each call to the Outlook4D
plug-in. Purchasing a license for the software removes this
restriction. |

Price List
Pricing
is inexpensive. There is a per developer fee of $249.00
for the full Outlook4D plug-in for Windows with NO deployment costs.
This means you purchase a license per developer in your organization
who is going to use the plug-in, and that's it. Nice and simple.
Nice and powerful too!
